Information Technology (IT) Management Series, 2210. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-07:
Superior academic achievement (SSA) with a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or another major that provided at least 24 semester hours in these fields and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. SSA is defined as:
upper third of the college graduating class; or member of a national honor society (excluding freshman honor society); or a 3.0 GPA or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education or courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 GPA or higher out of a possible 4.0 on the average of all required courses completed in the major or courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum (GPA will be rounded to one decimal place, i.e., 2.95 rounds to 3.0 and 2.94 rounds to 2.9). OR One year of post graduate study beyond the bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or another major that provided at least 24 semester hours in these fields and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. OR One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as working as a Information Technology (IT) Specialist trainee performing a variety customer support functions; collecting information on customer problems, offering basic solutions, issuing, resetting, and disabling passwords and customer accounts, basic troubleshooting of networks, web pages, work stations, or personal computers under supervisor direction, performing routine maintenance of electronic files including tasks such as making tape/disk backup copies of hard disk information, retrieving files from backup tapes/disks, and using file transfer protocol (FTP) software to add or update files on Web servers. GS-09:
Masters or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or another major that provided at least 24 semester hours in these fields and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. OR One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as working as an advanced Information Technology (IT) Specialist trainee fulfilling a variety of developmental basic/conventional IT tasks in Windows operating systems, performing basic troubleshooting of networks, web pages, work stations, or personal computers, analyzing basic issues affecting specialty IT areas, providing advice and guidance on a variety of IT issues, conducting analysis and recommending resolutions of convention but complex issues affecting a particular IT specialty area, and providing excellent customer service assisting customers in installing applications, troubleshooting post-installation problems, and coordinating the technical support of deployed applications. GS-11 A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or another major that provided at least 24 semester hours in these fields and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. OR One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as working at the developmental level diagnosing and resolving unique, nonrecurring problems associated with application software and Windows operating systems; providing excellent customer service in determining the source of problems and identifying the priority and nature; configuring, deploying, maintaining, troubleshooting and implementing temporary or permanent fixes with the aim of restoring service to computer workstations, laptops, printers, mobile devices, phones, peripheral equipment and telecommunications equipment; troubleshooting recurring problems and researching post-installation related issues, critical registry issues and recommending solutions to resolve customer issues. In addition to meeting the specialized experience, you must also possess and demonstrate the Information Technology (IT) related experience identified in the following 4 competencies listed below. 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT:
If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
